We are standing (September 2021)

Time to share with brothers and sisters what God has been doing here in Amazonas. It seems that time passes so quickly and when we see it, we are already a long time without sending any news. I hope this message feeds your faith and makes you rejoice with us through God's deeds. Take time to pray with us.

EMA - Teen Missions School

Pandemic in stability, God in control! In 2020 the EMA trip was canceled for security reasons. This year, even with all the difficulty that Amazonas experienced throughout the direction of the trip (partnership between EMA and Projeto Povos) they waited as long as possible and did their best not to cancel the trip. God cried! After almost two years without volunteer mission teams in our region EMA arrived to do an amazing project named Operation Rio Negro. Communities in Rio Negro were met with evangelism, spiritual strengthening and a genuine revival that flowed from the hearts of these young people. The team faced unimaginable challenges and knew how to act with faith and compassion. In addition, they mobilized and managed to get almost 200 food baskets to distribute in the communities! Amazing, EMA as always doing wonderful projects and making an impact wherever they go. Our thanks to the EMA leaders and all the districts that participated as there were young people from the 4 corners of Brazil.

Rio and Brasília Team - Projeto Povos

Another important moment was to receive a team made up of volunteers from Rio de Janeiro and Brasília afterwards. These work with Christian empowerment and support to riverside churches. They brought a mini conference to minister in each community: Conference Deserts! Yes...there was healing, restoration, breaking of chains, comfort and manifestation of God. All communities were facing times of many crises, pains, anguish... but God exchanged the desert for a spring. We believe that all the seeds released will bear fruit in revival in the riverside populations in the Rio Negro. Along with the team from Rio de Janeiro were beloved brothers from Brasília (Distrito Centro Oeste) who came to expiate the land. I believe that soon we will have projects with this district.

Our gratitude to all who help maintain the boat so that these journeys can take place in safety.

Baptism in Barreirinha

The last few months in Barreirinha were very difficult due to the historic flood in Amazonas. The Church has been stopped for a long time and construction has also been halted. Still, the shepherds there Isaac and Dulcian continued to care for the people and strengthen the brothers. After so much effort and work, God blessed the brothers and we had baptism there in Barreirinha. Pastor Isaque and Pastor Gean (Sateré Mawé) got together to do a baptism in Rio Andirá, taking advantage of the anniversary of the congregation in Ponta Alegre. There, there was growth and joy as brothers passed through the waters. This is the moment we praise God for sustaining the call in the midst of the struggles and seeing that it was worth it to persevere. Our congratulations to the shepherds Isaque (Barreirinha), Gean (Rio Andirá) and Alexandre Fernandes (Parintins) for keeping the work going, because in the face of the pandemic we were unable to visit the region.

Community School Reinforcement Project

During this 2021 pandemic, we started a bold project in an impoverished community in Manaus. With the pandemic taking place and many schools closed, children were stuck at home, learning delayed and idle. In needy regions, the rate of parents who study at home with their children is low. So we started a school reinforcement project by opening the doors of the church, creating a space for protection and learning. Since May we have been serving 20 children in the community. This has been a new, difficult, responsible yet rewarding experience. Compassion that breeds attitude is a hallmark of our denomination. I'm happy with this project and spend a lot of time thinking about it. Sometimes I feel like George Muller (a great man of God) facing huge needs and praying for a miracle from God. Pray that we can take this project forward and change the course of more children.

Farewell Pastor Minegildo

We said goodbye to the beloved riverside shepherd Minegildo Gaspar Rodrigues, an unexpected moment that left the people very sad. He was a present leader who had the affection and respect of all people in all communities in the region where he lived. He walked with God and lived a life of complete dedication to the Father's will. In this very difficult moment, the Nazarene Mission was super present helping the family throughout the process. Today he has become a faith hero of the region, a myth. His life story and his fear of God will certainly set the example that the riverside people need to continue in faith.

Another blessing in the family

We inform our beloved brothers that the missionary family will increase. The news of our third baby arrived surprising us but God is in control of all things. We count on your prayers that everything goes well, for Val's health and the arrival of the blessing. But I also inform you that the factory has now closed (laughs).

20 years of Missions in the Amazon

This month of August will be celebrated the 20th Celebration Service of the Church of the Nazarene in Manaus. It was one of the first churches in the region (along with Belém and Castanhal) but it was the church that established itself as the center of missions as it was the ideal place to reach the entire Amazon. I arrived in 2009 and I have been part of this church for 11 years. We praise God for all He is doing here and we pray that this work will advance more and more and the name of the Lord will be Exalted among the peoples.

Thanks to everyone who has prayed and helped keep the work going.
And The Kingdom Advances!
